ENTERTAINMENT | MAPHORISA & KABZA’S FNB STADIUM SHOW REPORTEDLY GENERATES R90 MILLION
DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small are reportedly celebrating a major milestone following their sold-out FNB Stadium concert, with figures circulating online suggesting that the Amapiano spectacular generated approximately R90 million (about US$5.3 million) in gross revenue.
The highly anticipated show attracted thousands of fans to Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, marking another significant moment for the growth of Amapiano and its leading artists.
If independently confirmed, the reported gross revenue would place the concert among the biggest-grossing shows involving African artists. The figure has also sparked comparisons with other major African music events, including Burna Boy’s reported US$6 million gross from his London stadium concert.
However, it is important to note that R90 million in gross revenue does not mean Maphorisa and Kabza De Small personally took home R90 million. Concert revenue is typically shared across artists, promoters, venues, production companies and other stakeholders, while expenses such as staging, security, marketing, staffing and taxes also have to be covered.
Maphorisa and Kabza De Small have played a major role in the international rise of Amapiano, both as individual artists and through their collaborative work. Their ability to headline a major stadium event demonstrates the growing commercial power and global reach of the South African genre.
The claim that the FNB Stadium concert is the highest-grossing Amapiano show in history has generated significant excitement among fans, although the reported financial figures would need independent confirmation before being treated as official.
For now, the reported R90 million figure remains a gross-revenue claim rather than a confirmed amount earned by the two artists.
