Super Typhoon Bavi Threatens Taiwan as Deadly Tornadoes Strike China

Super Typhoon Bavi is continuing its approach toward Taiwan, with severe weather expected to intensify from Friday and peak on Friday and Saturday. Forecasters warn that the powerful storm could unleash more than one metre of rainfall in some areas, bringing destructive winds, life-threatening flooding, and a high risk of landslides.
Although Bavi is forecast to weaken slightly before making its closest approach to Taiwan, it is expected to remain a large and dangerous typhoon capable of causing widespread disruption and damage. Authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to prepare for extreme weather conditions and follow official safety guidance.
Meanwhile, central China has been struck by deadly severe weather after two tornadoes tore through Hubei Province. At least 11 people lost their lives, while many others were injured as powerful winds reaching 149 km/h caused extensive destruction to homes, businesses, and infrastructure.
Emergency response teams are assessing the damage and assisting affected communities as recovery efforts begin. The back-to-back extreme weather events highlight the significant risks posed by powerful storms across the region.
