Mayengani is set to perform at an ANC event

President Benny Mayengani is set to perform at an ANC Heritage Day celebration in Ward 23, months after stepping away from active party politics.

The event, organised under ANC McMillan Nyabane, will take place on 26 September 2026 at Mariveni B Centre. Mayengani is among a line-up of artists including DJ Mumba, Cool B, Gogo Denz, Buti Na Buti, Chongo and Dr Sunglen Chabalala.

His appearance comes after he resigned as president of the Action Alliance Development Party (AADP) in May 2026, with his management saying he would refocus on his music career and the promotion of Xitsonga culture and tradition.

Mayengani previously joined the ANC in 2020 after his involvement with the EFF and later founded the AADP in 2023.

While his participation in the ANC-linked Heritage Day event may attract attention, it does not indicate that he has rejoined the ANC.

Mayengani remains a recognised figure in Xitsonga music with accolades from the Limpopo Music Awards (LIMA) and Xitsonga music awards.

The Heritage Day celebration will also feature cultural activities and competitions, including traditional attire, drama, poetry and singing.
