Tebogo G Mashego Sparks Concern After Hospital Image Emerges
Johannesburg — Fans of Biri Marung hitmaker Tebogo G Mashego are expressing concern after a photograph circulating online appeared to show the amapiano star restrained on a hospital bed.
The image has prompted questions about the musician’s wellbeing and whether he is once again receiving medical treatment. However, there has been no official confirmation from Mashego, his family, representatives or medical authorities confirming when or where the photograph was taken or whether he has been admitted to a psychiatric facility.
The latest concerns come amid renewed social-media activity by Mashego. According to recent online reporting, he has made fresh claims relating to money from the Scorpion Kings LIVE event at FNB Stadium, reigniting attention around the disputes that previously surrounded his Biri Marung royalties.
The Nigeria ordeal
Mashego’s latest situation also brings back memories of a dramatic episode in Nigeria in September 2025.
The young musician travelled to Nigeria for a performance but subsequently went online claiming that he had been left stranded and did not have a return ticket to South Africa. In emotional Instagram Live videos, he appealed for assistance to get home.
Mashego also made several allegations concerning his music career, including claims about unpaid royalties connected to Biri Marung. Those allegations were widely discussed, but they should be treated as allegations rather than established facts.
Fellow musician DJ Karri subsequently said he had helped arrange a flight for Mashego to return to South Africa.
Trouble after returning to South Africa
Days after his return, Mashego became involved in another highly publicised incident in Laudium, Tshwane.
The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster said Mashego had not been arrested, but that police were called after he allegedly displayed abnormal behaviour and acted violently. Officers reportedly had to remove him from the community in the interest of public safety.
Police subsequently took him to a hospital for medical evaluation, according to reporting at the time. A common-assault case was also reportedly opened following the incident.
His family later asked the public to give the young musician privacy and support during what they described as a difficult period.
Fans now want answers
The emergence of the latest hospital photograph has once again placed Mashego’s wellbeing under the spotlight.
While some social-media users are claiming that the musician has been admitted to a psychiatric institution, that claim has not been officially confirmed in the latest reporting. It is therefore too early to state as fact that Mashego has been admitted to a mental-health facility or to diagnose his condition.
