Pretoria, 30 June 2026 — Protesters marched through the Pretoria CBD on Tuesday as part of a planned demonstration, moving along an approved route under the watch of law enforcement.
Participants carried placards, sang struggle songs, and chanted slogans as they made their way through the city centre toward the Union Buildings. The demonstration formed part of the widely publicised “March to March” protest, which drew participants from various areas.
A visible police presence accompanied the march throughout the day, with officers monitoring the procession, managing traffic, and ensuring that the demonstration remained peaceful. Temporary road disruptions were experienced in parts of the CBD as the march progressed.
Despite the large turnout, no major incidents or acts of violence were immediately reported during the procession. Authorities continued to monitor the situation as protesters advanced through Pretoria.
Motorists and commuters were advised to expect delays in and around the Pretoria CBD, Sunnyside, and roads leading to the Union Buildings while the demonstration was underway.
The march remained ongoing at the time of publication, with police maintaining a strong presence to facilitate public safety and the orderly movement of protesters.
