Pretoria, 30 June 2026 — Large groups of protesters linked to the “March and March” anti-illegal immigration movement moved through Pretoria’s central business district on Tuesday, with demonstrators gathering near Sammy Marks Square under a heavy police presence.
The march forms part of a broader nationwide campaign calling on government to intensify efforts against undocumented immigration. Protesters are demanding stricter border control, stronger immigration enforcement, and the removal of undocumented foreign nationals from communities across South Africa.
Law enforcement officers have been deployed throughout the Pretoria CBD to monitor the demonstration and manage traffic as the crowd moves through the city. Several roads have experienced temporary disruptions, while some businesses have either closed their doors or limited operations as a precaution.
