South Africa – ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has urged South Africans to allow the government to deal with illegal immigration through the rule of law rather than taking matters into their own hands through violence or vigilantism.
Speaking on the issue, Mbalula emphasized that immigration enforcement is the responsibility of the state, calling on citizens to respect legal processes. He maintained that the government remains committed to addressing immigration challenges within the framework of the Constitution and existing laws.
However, his comments quickly ignited widespread debate across social media platforms, with many South Africans expressing frustration over what they see as the government’s failure to effectively manage illegal immigration over the past three decades.
Critics argued that the state has had sufficient time to resolve the issue, raising concerns about border security, corruption, crime, unemployment, and pressure on public services.
