NPA Unsure if AKA’s Family Will Be Represented in Anele Tembe Inquest
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it remains unclear whether the family of the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes will appoint a legal team to represent them in the inquest into the death of Anele Tembe.
The matter, which was scheduled to continue in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court, has been postponed to 7 September. The NPA says it has not yet received confirmation on whether the Forbes family will participate in the proceedings through legal representation.
The inquest is examining the circumstances surrounding Tembe’s death and seeks to establish the facts surrounding the incident. The outcome could determine whether there is sufficient evidence to warrant any further legal action.
Both Anele Tembe and Kiernan Forbes have since passed away. Forbes was fatally shot outside a restaurant in Durban in February 2023.
The inquest is expected to resume on 7 September in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.
