Mamelodi, Pretoria – 30 June 2026 — Hundreds of residents gathered at Stoffel Park in Mamelodi on Tuesday morning ahead of a peaceful community march calling for improved service delivery, safer neighbourhoods, and increased employment opportunities.
Community members, youth groups, and local leaders assembled early, carrying placards, singing, and preparing to march through the township to voice their concerns.
Organisers said the demonstration was intended to provide residents with a platform to highlight challenges facing the community, including deteriorating infrastructure, unemployment, and public safety. They encouraged all participants to conduct themselves peacefully and to cooperate with law enforcement throughout the march.
Residents expressed hope that a memorandum would be received by the relevant authorities and that it would lead to meaningful engagement and action on issues affecting the community.
Police maintained a visible presence during the gathering, monitoring proceedings and assisting with traffic management to ensure the march took place safely and with minimal disruption.
The demonstration remained peaceful as participants began making their way along the planned route.
