Limpopo Targets More Than R120 Billion in New Investment Commitments
MOOKGOPHONG, Limpopo — Limpopo is targeting more than R120 billion in new investment commitments at the 2026 Limpopo Investment Conference, as the provincial government seeks to move beyond investment pledges and focus on turning commitments into tangible economic projects.
Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba made the announcement during the official media launch of the conference at Euphoria Golf Estate in the Waterberg District on Friday.
The conference is scheduled for 15 October 2026 at The Ranch Resort in Polokwane under the theme, “From Pledges to Prosperity: Accelerating Limpopo’s Industrial Future.”
Ramathuba said the province had secured more than R450 billion in investment commitments over the past five years, with approximately R170 billion announced at last year’s investment conference.
According to the Premier, these commitments have been associated with more than 23 000 jobs. However, she stressed that the priority now is ensuring that announced investments progress into actual projects, production and sustainable employment.
“We want to see investment that creates productive capacity, supports local enterprises, develops skills and generates employment,” Ramathuba said.
The provincial government has identified several sectors as key drivers of Limpopo’s economic growth. These include mineral beneficiation and green energy, agricultural modernisation and agro-processing, special economic zones and economic infrastructure.
The province is also seeking to expand investment opportunities in emerging sectors, including information and communication technology (ICT), artificial intelligence (AI) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Ramathuba said the investment conference would provide an opportunity for government and the private sector to strengthen partnerships aimed at unlocking Limpopo’s economic potential.
The shift from securing pledges to monitoring their implementation is expected to be a central focus of this year’s conference, with the province seeking investments that contribute directly to industrial development, local business growth, skills development and job creation.
The Premier invited investors and businesses to partner with the provincial government in driving Limpopo’s economic transformation and expanding its productive capacity.
