Eswatini Mourns Home Affairs Minister Princess Lindiwe After Death in South Africa
MBABANE, Eswatini — Eswatini is mourning the death of Home Affairs Minister Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe, who died in South Africa after a short illness while receiving medical treatment.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini announced her death in a government statement, extending condolences to King Mswati III, the Queen Mother, the Royal Family, and the people of Eswatini.
The government described Princess Lindiwe as a dedicated servant of the Crown and the Kingdom who carried out her responsibilities with dignity, devotion and a strong sense of duty.
Princess Lindiwe, a daughter of the late King Sobhuza II and sister of King Mswati III, served as Minister of Home Affairs from 2018. She was reappointed to the position in 2023.
Her professional career began in 1985 as an administration assistant at the Eswatini National Administration Office. She later moved into the private sector, becoming involved in business ventures including manufacturing and car-wash services.
In 2008, King Mswati III appointed her to Liqoqo, the traditional advisory structure to the monarch. She subsequently entered Parliament and later became a member of Cabinet.
Beyond her public service, Princess Lindiwe was known for her Christian faith and was affectionately known as Umkhokheli. Together with her husband, Apostle Robert Kasaro, she led the Jesus Calls Worship Centre, a faith-based organisation with branches in Eswatini and South Africa.
She also served as a pastor and led the church’s Ladies Ministry. The couple had three children.
Her death comes as Eswatini is also mourning the recent passing of Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala, adding to a period of national grief.
Tributes are expected to continue as the Kingdom remembers Princess Lindiwe’s years of public service, royal duties and religious leadership.
