CONFIRMED: Phuthaditjhaba court sentences man to 15 years
A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years’ direct imprisonment by the Phuthaditjhaba Regional Court following his conviction in a rape case involving his biological daughter.
The matter was investigated by the Phuthaditjhaba Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority.
The case was reported in April 2023 after the victim disclosed the abuse to her mother. Police subsequently opened a case, leading to the arrest of the accused.
The court found the accused guilty on Thursday, 17 September 2026, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
The South African Police Service commended Detective Sergeant Tlaleng Mohale of the Phuthaditjhaba FCS Unit for the investigation, while prosecutor Ms Nteo was also recognised for successfully presenting the matter before the court.
Police continue to encourage victims of sexual offences and abuse to report such incidents to law enforcement or a trusted adult.
