DJ Warras murder accused back in court as case moves to High Court
JOHANNESBURG — Two people accused in connection with the murder of popular South African DJ and media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock are appearing in the Johannesburg High Court on Friday as the case moves into its pre-trial phase.
Victor Mthethwa Majola, 44, and newly arrested accused Hlengiwe Goodness Buthelezi, 40, are facing charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with Stock’s killing.
Buthelezi was arrested in the Msinga area of KwaZulu-Natal earlier this month after police received information that she was allegedly hiding in the Ngcengeni area. She subsequently appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court, where she abandoned her right to apply for bail.
The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed that Buthelezi would join Majola in the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg for a pre-trial conference on 18 September.
Majola has previously been denied bail and remains in custody. The State has alleged that he was involved in orchestrating Stock’s killing. Those allegations have not been tested at trial.
Stock was shot and killed on 16 December 2025 outside the Zambesi Building in the Johannesburg CBD.
A third accused, Mozambican national Armando Joaquim Pacula, previously pleaded guilty to the murder under a plea and sentence agreement with the State. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment.
The current proceedings are expected to focus on pre-trial matters, including the accused’s legal representation and preparations for the trial. Reports indicate that Majola’s defence has previously sought additional time to secure funding for his legal representation.
